Abstract:
Since there are some contradictories of ENG findings in vertebroarterial ischemis in the literatures, this paper dealed with identification of vestibuiar and oculomotor functional changes by occluding brain arteries in guinea pigs. The guinea pigs are divided into three groups: left common carotid artery (LCCA) ligated, LCCA plus ipsiauteral vertebroartery(VA) ligated, and LCCA puls bilateral VA Ligated. The following results were obtained:) after LCCA ligated, the frequency of ipsilateral OKN significantly decreased. but SPVN was not affected,This means that the OKN function was more vulnerable to brain ischemia than the SPVN;(2)After LCCA plus ipsilateral VA ligated, the frequencies of both psilateral OKN and SPVN significantly decreased and returned to normal in 12 hours postligation;(3) After LCCA plus bilateral VA ligated, the frequencies of bilateral OKN and SPVN decreased. The more severe brain ischemia, the more decreased of ipsilateral OKN and SPVN. The OKN and SPVN might be recover-able gradually due to formation of collateral circulation, but did not returned to normal in 24 hours.
