Abstract:
Objective: To undertake a relatively systematic clinical study of Shengmaisan (SMS) so as to expand its treatment scope.
Methods: Ten derived SMS formulae based on the primary formula of SMS with the discretionary addition of some fixed herbs were used to treat different diseases according to differential diagnosis.
Results: Clinical cases demonstrate that the derived Shengmaisan formulae are effective in treating a variety of diseases.
Conclusion: When the derived SMS formulae are used to treat diseases, differentiation of symptoms and signs must go together with differentiation of diseases. Particularly, pulses and symptoms should be considered together and with reference to modern pharmacological studies, differentiation of symptoms and signs should be meticulous, and selection of herbs should be flexible. Only in this way can the curative effect be enhanced.
