Abstract:
Objective To study the effect of comprehensive nursing intervention on patients with anxiety during thoracic surgery.
Methods One hundred and sixty patients who were going to undergo thoracic surgery were randomly divided into control group and intervention group.Patients in control group were routinely nursed and those in intervention group were comprehensively nursed with intervention methods including nursing information,social support and promotion good sleep of patients.Anxiety and sleep of patients were assessed using Zung self-rating anxiety scale(SAS) and St.Mary’s hospital sleep questionnaire(SMH),on admission day,one day before operation and 2 days after operation,respectively.
Results No difference was found in scores of anxiety and sleep of patients at admission between the two groups(P>0.05).However,SAS and SMH showed a significant difference in the scores of anxiety and sleep of patients one day before operation and 2 days after operation between the two groups(P<0.01).
Conclusion Nursing interventions can efficiently improve the sleep and anxiety of patients during thoracic surgery,thus making patients better adapt to and cooperate with surgery.
