Abstract:
Objective To study the application of Da Vinci S surgical system in resection of thoracic cavity tumor and its advantages and disadvantages.
Methods Different indications of 4 patients with thoracic cavity tumor after resection using the Da Vinci S surgical system in our department from September 2011 to October 2011 were summarized.
Results The operation was successful in all patients with no transfer to open chest operation.Of the 4 patients,1 was diagnosed with thymoma,1 with cyst of thymus,1 with lipoma-like proliferation,1 with neurinoma. The average operation time was 120min,the intra-operative blood loss was 55ml,the average time of postoperative activity was 2.5 days, the average time of removing the thoracic drainage tube was 2.75 days, the average hospital stay time was 9.25 days. One patient was followed up for a long time due to pain, during which no relapse and complication occurred.
Conclusion Da Vinci surgical system is safe and reliable for resection of thoracic cavity tumor and advantageous over routine and open thoracoscopic surgery due to its wide invasion field. However, proper selection of patients, rich experience is very important to make sure of the safety of the patient.
