Abstract:
Objective To investigate the knowledge about IFN therapy for virus hepatitis in nurses of infectious disease hospitals and the methods of how to learn new knowledge.
Methods Knowledge about IFN therapy for virus hepatitis in 200 nurses of infectious disease hospitals was investigated with questionnaires.
Results The knowledge about IFN therapy for virus hepatitis was different in 200 nurses with different levels of education (P<0.05). The score of the knowledge about IFN therapy for virus hepatitis was the highest in those with academic credentials of university, college and vocational education, respectively. There was no difference in score between those with different academic titles but a statistical difference in scores between those with different degrees of the knowledge. The nurses were rather good in knowledge about the use and dose of IFN, but poor in knowledge about its indications, contraindications and therapeutic effect.
Conclusion Nurses with a high level of education in infectious disease hospitals are better in health education of IFN therapy, and should be organized to give lectures on new knowledge in their department in order to promote the study in those with a low level of education. Nurses in infectious disease hospitals should strengthen their medical knowledge in order to meet the needs of health education in patients.
