Abstract:
Objective To study the mental health in family members of patients with severe traumatic brain injury and its influence factors.
Methods Mental health in 40 family members of patients with severe brain trauma was scored with the symptom check list-90(SCL-90),and quantitatively analyzed and assessed.
Results The total SCL-90 score of somatization,interpersonal relationship,depression,anxiety,hostility,and psychoticism was significantly higher in family members of patients with severe traumatic brain injury than in ordinary people(P<0.01).No significant difference was observed in scores of compulsive disease,fear,paranoid factors between family members of patients with severe traumatic brain injury and ordinary people(P>0.05).The total SCL-90 score of anxiety,depression and hostility(except for fear,paranoid factor and interpersonal relationship) was significantly higher in female family members than in male family members of patients with severe traumatic brain injury(P<0.05).
Conclusion The family members,especially female family members of patients with severe traumatic brain injury,are at a high risk of suffering from psychological disorder,and great importance should be attached to their mental health with timely psychological intervention.
