Abstract: Objective:the prupose of this paper is to study the changes of erythrocyte membrane protein in diabetes.Methods:diabetes in rats were induced by STZ. The membrane proteins of erythrocytes from diabetic rats in three months were analyzed by SDS-PAGE. Results:The contents of band3 protein in diabetic rats were significant lower than that of controlled rats.Conclusion:since band3 is the major component of erythrocyte membrane proteins and participates in the multiple activities of erythrocytes, the changes of band3 in diabetes may influence directly on the normal structure and function of erythrocytes and need to be studied further.
