Abstract:
Objective: To observe the effect of salivary adenoid cystic carcinoma cells(SACC-83) on the growth of Schwann cells deriving from the sciatic nerve
in vitro co-culture.
Methods: Sciatic nerve was co-cultured with SACC-83,tongue cancer cells, and fibroblasts, respectively.Slides of the cultured cells were prepared and stained with immunohistochemistry.
Results: The SACC-83 promoted the growth of Schwann cells. The Schwann cells were stained brown with anti-S-100 protein, but fibroblasts were not stained.
Conclusion: SACC-83 can promote the growth of Schwann cells, which may be one of the mechanisms underlying the perineural invasion of SACC-83.
