Abstract: Objective：To evaluate the effectiveness and safety of recombinant human growth hormone（rhGH） treatment for severe burn injury.Methods：20patients with burn wounds covering over 50% of total body surface area were enrolled in this placebo controlled prospective study.They were comparable in nutrient intake，Indices about protein metabolism，wound healing，hepatic and renal function and blood were measured regularly.Results：All patients survived；the rhGH group had less weight loss，increased level of serum albumin pre-albumin and shorter healing time of deep partia-l thickness burn and donor site.Conclusion：rhGH treatment for severe burn injury has obvious beneficial effects with slight side-effects.
