Abstract:
Objective To study the expression of PrPc and p-Akt in gastric cancer tissue and its clinical significance.
Methods Expressions of PrPc and p-Akt in gastric cancer tissue and its adjacent tissue were detected by immunohistochemistry.
Results The positive expression rate of PrPc and p-Akt was 82.4%(66/85) and 88.2%(75/85),respectively,in 85 gastric cancer patients, which was significantly higher than that in its adjacent tissue(r=0.514,P<0.05).The expression levels of PrPc and p-Akt were significantly correlated with the down-regulated differentiation of gastric cancer cells and up-regulated expression of PrPc and p-Akt in gastric cancer tissue(P<0.05).
Conclusion PrPc and p-Akt are synergistically expressed in gastric cancer tissue, and p-Akt may play a role in PrPc-induced malignant phenotype of gastric cancer.
