Abstract: In 57 cases （62 eyes） of extracapsular cataract extraction with posterior chamber intraocular lens implantaion have been performed from February 1987 to March 1989, 37 eyes being followed up for 2 to 19 months. A corrected visual acuity of 1.0 or better was achieved in 23 eyes （62.16%） and and that of 0.5 or better in 34 （91.89%）. Postoperative intraocular pressure of 28 followed-up eyes changed within the range of normal value, with out statistical significance（P 0.05）. Postoperative corneal curvature findings were followed up in 28 eyes showing that the vertival curvature tended to increase （accounted 78.57%） while horizontal curvature tended to decrease （accounted for 92.86%）. Few postoprative complications in this group of patients such as opacification of the posterior capsule （11.29%）, a peripheral filariform anterior synechia （4.84%）, dislocation of IOL （3.23%） and hyphema （4.84%） were found. A few of causes and the management of postoperative complication were discussed.
