Abstract:
Objective: The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of indirect trauma on temporomandibular joint of young rat.
Methods: The effect of indirect trauma to the temporomandibular joint is analysed by means of an experimental model The trauma, applied from an angle glenoid fossa direction, produed injury of the temporomandibular joint. Light microscope was studied on these young wistar rats at different time.
Results: 24 h post-trauma. All the temporomandibular joint components showed signs of injury. 1~2 week post-trauma. Indirect trauma of young rat can lead to many fibroblasts appeared on surface of condylar. 4 week post-trauma. It was shown the adhesion between disc and condyle.
Conclusion: Indirect trauma can lead to proliferative repair changes of the articular disk and the articular surface of the condyle to young rat.
