Abstract:
Cui Xing-ning and Cui Xing-an are new drugs designed and synthesized by the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology of the Academy of Military Medical Science.Through animal experiment and normal human application,it is shown that both drugs not only have the miotic effection but also can decrease IOP,without toxicity on humanbody. Clinically,we have observed the miotic effection of Cui Xing-ning and effect of decreasing IOP of Cui Xing-an.The results are as follows: 1.210 eyes selected after optometry(pupili dilated by 5% Neophrine,2% Homatropine and 1% Atropine).Different concentrations of Cui Xing-ning(0.062%,0.125%, 0.5%),0.5% Eserine and 2% Pilocarpine are given. The miotic power of these drugs are observed and compared each other. It is shown that the miotic effection of Cui Xing-ning is the same as Eserine and stronger than pilocarpine, but the miotic time is shorter than Eserine. Therefore,Cui Xing-ning can be widely used for miosis after pupil dilation or as the miotic needed urgently during operation. 2.Patients with open-angle glaucoma are divided into two groups and observed. 20 eyes (10 patients) are used as the group using one drop of Cui Xing-an(2%) as compared with 2% Pilocarpine.Another group was the group usinng multiple drops of Cui Xing-an on 82 eves (41 patients). The period of observation is from one to 28 weeks. The results showed that Cui Xing-an has the same effection of decresing IOP as Pilocarpine but less miotic effection than the latter. Therefore, there is no influence on visual acuity and it may be a new drug for the treatment of glaucoma.
