Abstract:
It has been established that endogenous uveitisisretated to immune reactions and autoimmune phenomena may be one of the causes that initiate the disease. The pathogenesis, however, is obscure. With the indirect immunofluorescent meshod, the anti-urea autoantibodies in the sera from 21 patients and 15 controls were examined. The results showed that positive rate is 71% in patients and 13% in controls. The autoantibodies appeared in sclera, choroid, and iris, mainly, in the wall of vessels. This indicaes that the presence of autoantibodies is probably an etiologic factor for the development of endogeneous uveitis.
