Abstract:
Objective To study the value of tumor markers including CEA,CA125,CA19-9,CA72-4 and ALP in differential diagnosis of colon diseases.
Methods Tumor markers and ALP were detected in 43 patients with colon polyps and 88 patients with colon cancer confirmed by pathology and imaging as well as in 66 healthy controls using ROCHE electrochemical luminescence immunoassay techniques and automatic biochemical analyzer, respectively.
Results The CEA,CA125,CA19-9 and ALP levels were significantly higher in patients with colon cancer than in those with colon polyps and in healthy controls(P<0.01).The CA72-4 level in patients with colon cancer and in healthy controls was significantly different(P<0.01).The specificity of single CEA,CA125,CA19-9 and CA72-4 was higher in diagnosis of colon cancer with a lower sensitivity of 35%,7%,11% and 14%,respectively.The sensitivity and specificity of combined CEA,CA19-9 and CA72-4 test were higher.
Conclusion Combined CEA,CA19-9 and CA724 test can increase its sensitivity and accuracy in diagnosis of colon cancer, thus having a greater value in its diagnosis.
