Abstract:
Objective: To describe the procedure and assess the results of schoolager with congenital dislocation of the hip treated by slotted acetabular augmentation of Staheli.
Methods: Eleven patients with 11 hips were treated by slotted acetabular augmentation of Staheli (Slotted acetabular augmentation of Staheli plus open reduction with or without derotation osteotomy and femoral shortening) from 1994.1 to 2003.1. All patients were female. The left hip was 7 and the right 4. The average acetabular index was 39.7°(35°-45°). The average height of dislocated femoral head was 1.2 cm with a range of 1.0 cm to 2.0 cm. The average age at the time of surgery was 9.3 years, with a range of 6 to 12 years.
Results: Accoding to Mckay’ criteria, 8 cases got excellent clinical results,2 good results and 1 fair result. Xay showed that the average CE angle was 36°(30°-40°).Accoding to Severin’ criteria, 7 hips got excellent results, 3 good results and 1 fair result.
Conclusion: Slotted acetabular augmentation of Staheli is one of the effective operative methods for schoolager with congenital dislocation of the hip.
