Abstract:
Objective To study the cytotoxicity of chitosan thermosensitive hydrogel to human gingival fibroblasts(HGF)for its application in the treatment of periodontal diseases.
Methods Human gingival fibroblasts were cultured in a medium containing chitosan thermosensitive hydrogel at different concentrations for 24,48,72,and 96h,respectively.The relative growth rate(RGR)of HGF was determined by MTT assay.
Results The relative growth rate of HGF was over 90%after cultured for different periods of time. The cytotoxicity grade of different concentrations of chitosan thermosensitive hydrogel was 0 and 1.
Conclusion RGR have no cytotoxicity to HGF.Local application of chitosan thermosensitive hydrogel in the treatment of periodontal diseases is feasible.
