Abstract:
Objective: To explore the appropriate conditions of polymerization for microwave energy to cure denture base resin.
Methods: 120 specimens were treated by four methods: 3 microwave radiation heating treatments(MH
1: 162 W,for 12 min short times intermittent microwave cycle.MH
2: 162 W with 12 min consistent microwave cycle.MH
3: 900 W with 3 min consistent microwave cycle).1 conventional heating treatment CH: keeping on temperature(74±1)℃ held for 12 h,water bath. After being polymerized, the specimens in each group were divided into test group MH
1、MH
2、MH
3 and CH to measure the flexural strength、flexural modulus、impact strength and Rockwell hardness.
Results: Four sets of data analysis result indicated that microwave processing with the different condition of polymerization can get the different mechanical properties of the polymer(P<0.05).
Conclusion: Within the limitations of this in vitro study, the better ideal polymerization processing technique is to use a low energy, short time, intermittent microwave cycle.
