Abstract:
Objective: To investigate the relationship between uremia and telomere length.
Methods: After isolation of the human DNA,the leukocyte telomere lengths of twenty to thirty year-old human group and fifty to sixty year-old normal human groups and the patients of uremia were detected with Southern blot.
Results: It was shown that the telomere length of fifty to sixty year-old group was shorter than that of twenty to thirty year-old normal group.And the telomere length of patients of uremia was shorter than that of the normal group of the same year-old.
Conclusion: The results indicated that uremia may partily contribute to shortening of the human leukocyte telomere length.
