Abstract:
Objective To study the feasibility and efficacy of Bortezomib used in therapy for 3 patients with multiple myeloma(MM) and pretreatment of auto peripheral blood stem cell transplantation(PBSCT).
Methods Three MM patients were given chemotherapy with Bortezomib + epirubicin + dexamethasone(PAD) for 4 courses and then underwent auto-PBSCT pretreated with Bortezomib + melphalan + dexamethasone(PMD).Cyclophosphamide, dexamethasone and bortezomib in combination with granulocyte colony stimulating factor(G-CSF,5-10μg/(kg.d)) were used as a mobilization regimen.
Results VGPR was achieved in the 3 patients after four courses of PAD.After the collected stem cells were transplanted, the hematopoietic function was restored. The transplant time of neutrophils and platelets was 14,16,16 days and 25,29,22 days, respectively.
Conclusion Bortezomib is safe and effective for used in therapy for patients with MM and pretreatment of auto-PBSCT.Further study is needed to prove its clinical effect and safety on MM.
