Abstract:
Objective: To investigate the effect of propofol on the plasma concentrations of prostacyclin(PGI
2) and thromboxane A
2(TXA
2). Methods: Twelve monkeys with hemorrhagic shock were devided randomly into two groups. The monkeys in propofol group received propofol at plasma concentration 8mg/L by target control infusion, while monkeys in control group received normal saline in the same.Venous blood were collected to determine plasma prostacyclin (PGI
2) and thromboxaneA
2(TXA
2)concentrations by radio-immunoassay before bleeding, 2 hours after hemorrhagic shock and 2 hours after resuscitation. (Results: Compared) with control group’s,the TXA
2 level of propofol group was significantly lower at 2 hours after resuscitation((P=0.0001)), and the ratio of PGI
2/TXA
2 of propofol group was higher(P=0.0001). Conclusion: These findings indicate that propofol can decrease the plasma concentration of TXA
2 in hemorrhagic shock and resuscitation monkeys, which may be beneficial to control the development of hemorrhagic shock.
