Abstract: This article dealt with the influences of acupuncture on the left ventricular pressure（LVP）. the maximal rate of intraventricular pressure rise (dP/dt_max) and TTI during acute myocardial ischemia in 30 dogs. The results showed that after ligation of the left anterior descent branch of coronary artery（LAD）. the systolic pressure of left ventricle（LVSP）, dP/dt_max. the integrated isometric tension（IIT） and TTI decreased remarkably, It is suggested that the function of left ventricle was impaired severely by acute myocardial isclaemia. After electron-acupuncture was given at "Nei Guan" point.LVSP, dP/dt_max and TTI increased significantly. The change of TTI was mainly concerned with the disproportional changes of dP/dt_max and IIT, suggested that acupuncture might enhance the contractile force and velocity of myocardial contraction element, and improve myocardial contractility. In conclusion, it may be stated that acupuncture played an important role in maintenance of cardiac function as a positive inotropic intervention during acute myocardial ischemia.
