Abstract: Experience of surgical treatment in 26 cases of stricture of chemical burns of the esophagus from November, 1972 to November, 1990 was reported. There was no operative death. All patients were followed and found to be in good therapeutic effects. The good results were obtained in 92.3%. The authors believe that surgical treatment employing colonic interposition as the main procedure may give satisfactory results. The indications of dilatation of esophageal strictures, preoperative treatment and selection of reconstruction of esophageal organ were discussed.
