Abstract:
Objective: This study was attempted to evaluate several coral biologic ability.
Methods: Loose Porites lutea, compact Porites lutea, Porites pukonsis and Montipora sp. Cf. M implanted mice cranial critical size defects, The animals were sacrificed at 4,8,12 weeks respectively after operation and biologic ability was evaluated by histomorphometry, radiography and histology.
Results: The degradate rate of compact Porites lutea was lower than other kinds of coral, and compact Porites lutea had good biocompatibility.
Conclusion: compact Porites lutea will be a hopeful bone substitute to be used in repairing bone defect.
