Abstract:
Objective:To investigate the changes of 8 free fatty acids(FFA) in bile of rats during total parenteral nutrition(TPN).
Methods: Measuring the FFAs in bile by gas chromotography
Results:(1)Bile percentage concentrations of FFAs of C
14∶0,C
16∶0,C
18∶0,and C
20∶4,in fat-free TPN group were remarkably higher than that of controls and lipid-TPN groups, but with decreased C
18∶2 and C
18∶3,in fat-free TPN group; (2)No difference was found between controls and lipid-TPN groups in percentage concentrations of FFA in bile except that C
18∶1 was higher than that of controls.
Conclusion:Lipid-TPN may reduce the degree of bile FFA change during TPN, and thus play an important role in the prevention of TPN-indued biliary complications.
