Abstract:
Objective To analyze the distribution and prognosis of geriatric patients with hematopathy.
Methods Age at the onset of disease and survival time of 135 patients with hematopathy which was diagnosed and treated during the 13-year follow-up were analyzed.
Results Hematopathy occurred at the age of 80-89 years. The incidence of non-Hodgkin lymphoma was the highest(31.11%) followed by myelodysplastic syndrome(16.30%).The 5-year survival rate was 52.38% and 50%,respectively,for the patients with non-Hodgkin lymphoma and those with myelodys-plastic syndrome. The prognosis of patients with acute leukemia and aplastic anemia was the poorest. However, the 5-year survival rate of patients with iron deficiency anemia and megaloblastic anemia was not affected after treatment.
Conclusion The prognosis of geriatric patients with hematopathy is poor.Early diagnosis and treatment of the disease can prolong their survival time.
