Abstract:
Objective: To study effects of hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) on sexual function, in 50 patients who received HSCT.
Methods: The follow up forms were sent to patients by investigator. The changes of sexuality, sexual function, procreation, female menstruation and serum level of sexual hormones were analyzed.
Results: The fourteen out of 18 female patients had amenorrhea (77.8%) after HSCT. None of 32 married patients was pregnant. The sexuality and sexual function of the patients recovered to normal in 66.6% and 80.0%, respectively. There were no significant difference in serum level of sexual hormones before and after transplantation.
Conclusion: The effects of HSCT on procreation and female menstruation are obvious, but sexual function are not. It is need more patients and longer follow up to evaluate the serum level of sexual hormones.
