Abstract:
Objective: To study the law on reactive oxygen species metabolism of Streptococcus mutans,and investigate the relation between reactive oxygen species metabolism of Streptococcus mutans and dental caries.
Methods: Thiobarbituric acid - glacialaceticacid(TBA) method was used to measure lipid peroxide production of Streptococcus mutans incubated in the different incubation conditions.
Results: Glucose promotes Streptococcus mutans to produce lipid peroxides. Methylene blue inhibits Streptococcus mutans to produce lipid peroxides.
Conclusion: Reactive oxygen species metabolism is the feature of Streptococcus mutans metabolism.
