Abstract:
Objective: To improve surgical outcome of V-P shunt and to reduce the occurrence of postoperative complications.
Methods: 14 cases of postoperative complications were analyzed and discussed and the literature was reviewed.
Results: The main complications were obstruction of the catheter and infection. Others were intracranial hemorrhage, epilepsy, brain herniation.
Conclusion: The incidence of postoperative complication of V-P shunt remains high and we have to pay attention to the selection of indications, surgical skills and postoperative care.
