Abstract:
The statistics about the valvular lesion frequency in rhumatic heart disease available at present come mainly from data of autopsy, angioqraphy and physical examinations. They are inaccurate. Echocardiography is considered the best modality for diagnosis of valvular disease. To investigate the exact frequency of rhumatic valvular lesion, 107 patients were examined by echocardiography. The results showed: 1. 67.3% of valvular lesions are combined, only 32.7% are single; 2, the commonest pattern of combined valvular lesion is mitral stenosis and requrgitation plus aortic regurgitation, the mitral stenosis usualy being predominant, while the mitral and aortic regurgitation of mild to moderate severity; 3, incidence of tricuspid stenosis is higher than that of previous results.
