Abstract:
Objective To provide the evidence for health education by investigating the self-management consciousness and its related factors in patients at the age of over 60 years with diabetes mellitus accompanying hypertension.
Methods A questionnaire designed by ourselves was used to investigate the self-management consciousness in 120 patients at the age of over 60 years with diabetes mellitus accompanying hypertension.
Results The self-management consciousness was poor in 57 out of the 120 patients.The factors influencing their self-management consciousness were age,educational level,course of disease,complications of diabetes mellitus,spouse status,and family support,etc.
Conclusion Attention should be paid to the factors influencing the self-management consciousness during the health education of patients with diabetes mellitus accompanying hypertension.
