Abstract:
The present study was examined whether a postischemic use of Cordyceps Sinens is(CS) in form of decoction per os provided therapeutic effect on ischemic acute renal failure(ARF) induced by 45 min of bilateral renal pedicle clamping in rat.Animals were studied at the end of clamping,4,8, 16, 24, 48 and 120 hr after reflow.By 24 hr,the serum creatinine level had risen progressively to almost twenty times control values and then declined. The serum crea-tinine levels in the groups treated with CS were significantly lower than those without CS(
P<0.01), at 8 and l6 hr reflow. It was also found that CS treated group developed less urinary NAGase and Lysozym at 24 and 48 hr reflow (both
P<0.01).It was concluded that CS may provide the therapeutic effect of CS on postischemic ARF in rat.
