Abstract:
Objective To study the expression of apoptosis inducing factor(AIF)in gastric cancer tissue without lymph node metastasis and its correlation with the clinicopathologic features of gastric cancer.
Methods Gastric cancer tissue microarray was constructed and used to detect the expression of AIF in 100 gastric cancer tissue samples from patients without lymph node metastasis and in matched adjacent normal gastric mucosal tissue samples by immunohistochemistry. The correlation of AIF expression with clinicopathologic features of gastric cancer was analyzed.
Results The positive AIF expression rate in gastric cancer tissue was 48%,and AIF was expressed only in gastric wall cells of the adjacent normal gastric mucosa. However,AIF expression in gastric cancer tissue was not correlated with the histological subtypes, invasion depth,TNM phases, and Lauren classification of gastric cancer(P>0.05).
Conclusion Up-regulated AIF expression in gastric cancer tissue may play a role in the occurrence and development of gastric cancer.
