Abstract:
Objective To study the feasibility and safety of home-made single-port retroperitoneal laparoscopic nephrectomy for tuberculous non-functioning kidneys.
Methods Home-made single-port retroperitoneal laparoscopic nephrectomy was performed for tuberculous nonfunctioning kidneys from August 2010 to February 2011 in 5 cases.
Results Home-made single-port retroperitoneal laparoscopic nephrectomy was successful in 5 cases.The average operation time was 90min(range 50-130min).No organ damage and complications occurred during the operation.After surgery,the patients recovered uneventfully with a hospital stay time of 8 days(range 7-9 days).
Conclusion Home-made single-port retroperitoneal laparoscopic nephrectomy is a safe and effective procedure for tuberculous non-functioning kidneys and its cost is low.
