Abstract:
Disc displacement of temporomandibular joint is one of the most frequent temporomandibular joint disorders subtypes. Displacement of the disc disrupts the original normal disc-condylar contact and interferes with condylar sliding during mandibular movement, resulting in a number of clinical complaints. CT, MRI, and ultrasound imaging all give valuable information for the diagnosis and treatment evaluation of articular disc displacement. As a result, the purpose of this paper is to provide a systematic review on the imaging characteristics and imaging application of disc displacement of temporomandibular joint to investigate the role of different imaging examinations in its diagnosis and to provide a specific direction for its diagnosis, prevention, and treatment.
