Abstract: Intertrochanteric hip fractures are common in the elderly, and often accompanied with chronic medical condition such as cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases. Improper treatment may result in prolonged in-bed time, thus induced multiple complications, and increased mortality. Surgical fxation is currently the most prevalent therapy for intertrochanteric fracture, and different types of fractures require different kinds of surgical fxations. Herein we present the advances in internal fxation techniques for the treatment of intertrochanteric fractures.
